Nick’s Take: The Current Crop of Windows Mobile Devices

Windows Mobile

I personally am a huge fan of the HTC phones – I have the Wizard and I think it’s a phenomenal phone. My only complaint is battery life, but that’s pretty standard for a phone that maintains a constant connection to the internet.

The Motorola Q, while a slick phone, has huge user interaction issues with the large number of clicks and what not in order to accomplish a task.

The Treo 700W is a great phone and I think it was a step in the right direction. Battery life is better than the Wizard, and it’s a nice small form factor. I will be interested to see the new Treos (750) stateside that don’t have the stupid antenna on it.

In the end the only phones I can really recommend as WM5 phones or smartphones would be the 700W and the HTC Wizard/Hermes. I would also say that if you’re going to have a WM5 phone then you should really have a full keyboard, and no keyboard is better than the HTC slide out keyboards with the amount of finger real estate they have.
