These plans, because they do not come with a phone, are generally pretty generous in what they offer, but most importantly, they can be obtained with a month to month contract.

T-Mobile, for example, offers for about £5 less than an equivalent 18 month contract phone unlimited texting and a month to month contract.

O2, with their simplicity package offer, for £25 or so, 600 minutes and 1000 text messages plus the inclusion of one free bolt on (unlimited calls to O2 numbers, or web access, for example).

All in all, these are some great values for those of you willing to buy second hand phones or unlocked phones at a premium (aka, unlocked iPhones).
