Tired of being in Apple Jail: Jailbroke my 3G iPhone

Whilst I’m not a n00b to the unlocking and jailbreaking of iPhones, having done it many times on my 2Ger, I’ve been hesitant to do it on my 3G model to keep it ‘virgin’ on its legal contract with O2.

However, after seeing the Palm Pre, and after my experience with not being able to receive MMS, record video, or do other similar ‘standard’ things, I decided to jailbreak my phone so as to be able to enable all of these services, albeit it, out of the sandbox.

My first attempt to use the current Dev Team regular app failed, so I used the QuickPwn app, and that worked like a charm. After that I installed, SwirlySpace’s MMS app, Cycorder, BossPrefs, and a search application that searches your entire phone, not just individual apps. I’m happy. Hopefully no problems will arise, but if they do, I’ll just restore to the default IPSW.
